Personal Experience

Khalif Rhodes is the former Chief Magistrate of Mecklenburg County. While serving he was afforded the unique opportunity of presiding over a District Court docket where he rendered judgments to thousands of cases. He enjoyed the community interaction and was honored to fairly serve the citizens of Mecklenburg County.

Mr. Rhodes is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. In addition to a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley School, he received a Legal Law of Masters in Corporate Law and Finance (LL.M.).

Mr. Rhodes began his career as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Leo Bowman, at the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court, Oakland County, Michigan. Judge Bowman’s docket consisted of criminal, civil, and family law matters. In the infancy of his career, he observed first-hand the importance of being effective, efficient, fair, and impartial.

Mr. Rhodes formed The Rhodes Firm, PLLC, because of his desire to bring justice and satisfactory outcomes to those in need of legal services.

Organizations & Memberships

Mr. Rhodes devotes his time and energy to organizations that help Mecklenburg County grow. Above all, Mr. Rhodes is a leader in the community. For example, he serves in a number of leadership positions. He is currently the Chairman of the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte – Mecklenburg.
Mr. Rhodess understands the importance of having access to quality education; therefore, Mr. Rhodes is a current member of the board of directors for S.T.A.R.S Math & English Academy.
Mr. Rhodes is a former member of the Mecklenburg County Domestic Violence Fatality review board. He is a former Executive Committee member of Mecklenburg County’s Criminal Justice Advisory Group (CJAG). He is a former board member of the Mecklenburg County Commissioner’s Small Business and Entrepreneurial Advisory Board.
Mr. Rhodes is passionate about raising awareness in the areas of homelessness, sexual abuse and domestic violence victims, and youth offender crimes. Because of his passion to bring awareness, Mr. Rhodes helped to bring a Family Justice Center to Mecklenburg County.

Mr. Rhodes is an active member of The Empowerment Center Church in Huntersville, NC. Also, he is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc.
